This was the first fight to go the distances at UFC Fight Night 45, but still had a strong showing in their fight that went all three rounds. Gleison Tibau had a showing of his skills against Pat Haley and that was good enough to earn him the decision victory.
Gleison Tibau has 3 knockouts, 12 submissions and 14 decision victories in his MMA career. He has been in the UFC since 2006 when he made his debut against Nick Diaz which he lost via 2nd Rd TKO. He is 2-2 in his last four fights, he lost to Evan Dunham via split decision in February of 2013, he beat John Cholish via 2nd Rd guillotine choke. In August he followed up with another win over Jamie Varner via split decision. In his last fight he lost to Michael Johnson back in December via 2nd rd knockout.
Pat Healy has 6 knockouts, 15 submissions and 8 decision victories in his MMA career. Prior to making his UFC debut and fighting in Strikeforce, he was on a six fight winning streak. He made his UFC debut against Jim Miller which that fight went to a no contest. He lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov via Unanimous decision back in September of 2013. He then went on to lose to Bobby Green and Jorge Masvidal via Unanimous decision. This is a make or be cut kind of fight.

Round 1: Tibau comes out and lands a big right to Healy. Tibau lands a big right and this makes Healy a bit wobbly. Healy is trying press and really find a way inside. Tibau get’s a double leg takedown that he then transitions right into side control. Healy makes Tibau get into his guard half way through this fight. Tibau lands strikes while he tries to pass. Tibau lands a big right hand and Healy holds on to recover. Healy get’s to his feet off a scramble and we go to the second round.
Round 2: Tibau grabs a double leg and gets the takedown. He transitions into side control, Healy get’s to the fence and works his way up to his feet. Healy breaks out and we go back to striking. Tibau lands a left jab, they exchange with Tibau getting the better of the two. Healy presses, but the reach is getting to him. Tibau attempts a double leg takedown, but stuffed. Tibau lands not one, but two quick jabs that stuns Healy. Healy clinches and puts Tibau on the fence, but Tibau reverses and gets the outside advantage. They break and exchange to the sound of the bell.
Round 3: They trade body shots, but Healy presses Tibau on the fence. He looks for a single leg, but quickly let’s go when it is denied. Healy on the outside, applies pressure on Tibau and looks for a way to get the takedown. Tibau stays strong and slides out half way through the round. Healy once again clinches and puts Tibau on the fence. Completely different round for Tibau. They break once more, Tibau is back peddling. Tibau lands a big double leg takedown, but Healy get’s to his feet. Healy grabs the right leg of Tibau, trying to get the takedown. However, Tibau reverses and they battle it out for the last thirty seconds.
Result: Gleison Tibau def. Pat Healy via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)
